Dwight Yoakam – Americana Honors & Awards Show 2016
Dwight Yoakam’s New Album ‘Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars…’ Out Now
For the making of Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars…, Dwight Yoakam has assembled a band of bluegrass luminaries to reinterpret favorites from his catalogue featuring eleven Yoakam compositions and a new cover of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’.
There is a lot to like in Jodi Martin‘s Saltwater.
It was produced by classy roots performer Shane Nicholson who has proven many times to be a talented ally in the studio (Kasey Chambers, Catherine Britt, Josh Rennie-Hynes and Oh Pep, to name a few).
All thirteen songs here are telling originals, with three co-written with folk journeyman Arlo Guthrie (son of Woody) and one with noted musician/producer Jeff Lang.
A little while back, I reviewed Shiner by Australian indie-roots outfit Sean McMahon & the Moonmen (MGM). A new video has been released of a track from this impressive release, ‘Holiday From My Dreams’:

New EP – All That You Got
In 2015 singer/songwriter Chris Cavill made a successful return to the Australian music scene releasing his most ambitious record to date, Know Your Destiny. That release was a gripping one that took a hold over me and would NOT let go – read my review.
